vServer
The vServer gives you a new, reliable server of the right size for your changing
needs
The vServer is a cost effective way of future proofing your web presence without
having to invest in new, over specified hardware.
The vServer is an innovative way of using VMware technology for server hosting requirements. The vServers are Virtual Machines running on high specification HP Servers, each typically running 4-6 Virtual Machines. CPU load is balanced across physical machines to ensure optimum available processor power. The servers are hosted in a World Class Data Centre at Global Switch.
VMware is a proven virtualisation technology, currently the fastest growing software company ever, having overtaken Oracle and recently grown from nothing to over $400m in less than 6 years. Sys3 can offer your business the benefits of virtualization technology without the additional overheads of having to manage it internally.
The advantages of using a vServer:
• Higher uptime, various levels of resilience available
• Flexible disk storage options. Disk capacity can be increased without downtime
• Flexible Specifications (RAM, CPU, Disk space) can be upgraded or downgraded
• The ability to recover instantly (within an hour) from a hardware failure
• The ability to “duplicate” machines for testing or development work.
• No up front capital costs
In addition, with storage being implemented on the SAN, the following benefits also apply:
• Option to mirror server data offsite to our hosting centre at IX Europe
• Higher performance
• Higher reliability
• Flexible configuration – capacity increased on the fly
Example vServer Specification:
Speed: 1.0(for development,), 1.5, 2.4Ghz
Memory: 2 or 3.6GB
The vServer is available with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or Redhat Enterprise Linux operating systems. Microsoft SQL and MySQL database options are available.
Disk storage will be in multiples of 36GB and
Mistral can upgrade your storage space
as required. All vServers are hosted on machines with dual CPU’s and dual power
supplies with storage RAID 4 on the SAN.
